Strictly stars add a touch of sparkle to House of Hope Gala Ball

Strictly Legends Pasha Kovalev and Kristina Rihanoff added a touch of sparkle to the Strictly for Hope Gala Ball at Prestonfield House, to raise vital funds for the House of Hope, Scotland’s first bespoke wellbeing centre for people impacted by breast cancer and their families.

The glittering Strictly themed gala ball was The House of Hope’s biggest fundraising event of the year, to raise money to ensure those impacted by breast cancer can continue accessing fully funded support services, holistic treatments, exercise classes and wellbeing sessions.

Bringing together House of Hope supporters and the business community for an evening of entertainment and empowerment, the event was supported by headline sponsor RevitaLash Cosmetics, silver sponsor PW & Partners and bronze sponsor Hunter Garden Services.

Hazel McLinden, House of Hope Centre Manager said: “The money we have raised will go directly towards enhancing and maintaining the wellbeing services we offer.

Recently celebrating its first anniversary, the Edinburgh-based charity has gone from strength-to-strength.

Compered by broadcast stars Grant Stott and Laura Boyd, with Alan Wake star of Manogram – a man with breast cancer, delivering the keynote speech, the evening included showcase dance performances from Strictly stars Pasha Kovalev and Kristina Rihanoff, along with dazzling routines from amateur dancers – Andy, Emma, Denis and Mary – some of whom had never danced before, to raise money for the House of Hope.

The evening was topped off with a fantastic live music set from popular Scottish duo BLEEKER, who regularly perform for charitable causes. 

The Strictly for Hope Gala Ball celebrated the efforts and achievements of the charity to date and paves the way for future fundraising events.

The House of Hope Scotland raises £70,000 at inaugural gala ball

The House of Hope Scotland celebrated a remarkable fundraising achievement at its inaugural Gala Ball, raising £70,000 through silent auction, live auction and donations on the night at the prestigious Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.

The sell-out event, held on 5 September, brought together supporters and the Scottish business community for an incredible evening of education and celebration. The event was hosted by popular broadcaster Grant Stott and STV News Entertainment Reporter Laura Boyd, with Grant’s rendition of “That’s Fife!” proving a particular highlight of the evening.

“I’m honestly blown away by what happened on Friday night,” said Lisa Fleming, founder of The House of Hope. “To raise £70,000 is just incredible, especially in today’s economic climate. It shows how much people believe in what we’re doing and want to help others going through this journey.”

The funds raised will directly support The House of Hope’s comprehensive range of services, including wellbeing therapies, tailored workshops, classes and emotional support services, all of which are provided free of charge to people affected by breast cancer and their families.

The House of Hope is Scotland’s first dedicated wellbeing and support centre for people affected by breast cancer and their families. Founded by Lisa Fleming, who was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2017, alongside husband Euan, the charity provides a welcoming, non-clinical sanctuary offering vital holistic support services.

The success of the Gala Ball was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including headline sponsor BTO Solicitors LLP, Hunters Gardens, and CF Services, alongside the continued partnership of partners Scotto and Estee Lauder Companies. 

“The whole evening was just magical,” Lisa added. “From our amazing sponsors to Grant and Laura keeping everyone entertained, to every single person who bid in the auctions or made a donation, everyone played a part in making this happen.

A huge thank you as well to Prestonfield House and Signature Pub Group for donating the VIP and drinks receptions on the evening. This money will help us reach so many more people affected by breast cancer who need our support.”

CHAS 2024 Rocking Horse Ball raises £95,000 to help support dying children and their families

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS)’s 2024 Rocking Horse Ball, sponsored by Thorntons Solicitors, has raised £95,000 (after costs) to help support children with life-shortening conditions and their families. 

The annual event, which had an Aladdin ’Whole New World’ theme this year, took place at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh on Friday 7 June.

Guests at the event, which is recognised as one of the capital’s most-loved charity dinners, enjoyed a night of wonder with Aladdin-themed games amongst a backdrop of flying carpets and magic lamps.

Comedian and singer Jess Robinson hosted the event, supported by compere Alex Fleming, who entertained guests throughout evening, including during the live auction, while music was provided by Edinburgh band duo BLEEKER. 

Guest of honour at the event was CHAS parent speaker, Andy White from Fife who spoke about the care and support he received from Rachel House hospice in Kinross when his son Leo died in March 2022, aged just six years old.
