Police have confirmed that the body of missing man Stanislaw Zajac has been found.
The 51-year-old was last seen on Saturday 31st August in the Leith area.
On Sunday (15th September) officers responded to a report that a body had been found on an East Lothian beach. The body has now been formally identified as that of Mr Zajac and his family have been informed.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 33-year-old woman reported missing. Wioleta Wisinska was last seen around 11am on Thursday 21st June in Dundas Street, and concern is growing for her welfare. Continue reading Have you seen Wioleta?

Can you help trace missing woman?
Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information in an effort to trace a 33-year-old woman who has been reported missing. Stacey Ann Ellis was last seen leaving work in St John’s Road, Corstorphine, at around 7:45pm last night.
Since then she has not made contact with friends or family and police are growing increasingly concerned for her wellbeing.
Stacey is described as around 5ft 6in tall, medium build with long dark brown hair. She has tattoos on both wrists and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans and black boots.
She drives a grey-coloured Vauxhall Zafira with the registration DY11 ZGD, which was seen in Dundee on Tuesday night.
Inspector James Sinclair of Police Scotland said: “Stacey’s disappearance has come as a shock to her friends and family and we are keen to find her as quickly as possible.
“We believe Stacey has driven to Dundee and may still be in the city however we are keeping an open mind to the possibility that she may have moved on.
“I would urge members of the public in the city and wider Tayside area to contact police immediately if they have seen Stacey or the grey-coloured Vauxhall Zafira.
“Anyone who can assist us with our investigation is asked to contact police on the 101 or, alternatively via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Police are appealing for information to help trace a man reported missing since Monday (9 March).
Ian Nelson, also known as Ian Copeland, who is 38-year-old, was last seen around 1.30pm in the Western General Hospital where he was receiving treatment. Staff are concerned that he has missed the dose of the medicine he needs and his health could be affected.
Ian is described as a white male, 5 ft 10, slim build with short ginger hair and a fair complexion. He is believed to be wearing a grey top and dark trousers.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward. Inspector Allan Symington said: “We are concerned for Ian’s health and welfare and are keen to speak to anyone who can help us trace him. Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.”
Have you seen John Coleman?
Police in Edinburgh have issued a renewed appeal to trace a man reported missing in the Capital five years ago.
As part of Police Scotland’s commitment to the continued review of missing person cases, officers are currently looking at the disappearance of John Coleman, who was last seen in Leith Street on 1st May 2009.
The 57-year-old (52 at the time he went missing) was known to visit various areas of Scotland including Montrose, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Perth, as well as Northern Ireland. However, no positive sightings have ever been confirmed to police.
Officers are now urging anyone who believes they know of John’s current whereabouts to come forward.
He is described as white, around 5ft 9in tall with a medium build, brown eyes and medium-length brown hair. He speaks with a Glasgow accent, and was last seen wearing a beige jacket.
In addition, he also has the word “John” and a rose, dagger and Irish harp all tattooed on his left arm.
Detective Inspector John Kavanagh said: “We have never given up with our efforts to trace John and will continue to review his disappearance.
“Several years have now passed since he was last seen however, I would ask anyone who believes they have information that can assist with this enquiry to contact police immediately.
“In addition, we continue to urge John to make contact with friends, family or police and let us know he is safe and well.”

Police officers in Edinburgh are appealing for information to help trace a woman reported missing from the Leith area. Kirsty Heggie, who is 23, was last seen near to Holyrood Palace at around 9.35am on Sunday (29 June).
She was wearing a brown/black blazer jacket, a black vest top, black trousers and black trainers. She was carrying a black bag that had pink/orange flowers on it and may have in her possession a purple blanket with flower stitching on it.
Described as white, 5ft 6in, of slim build and with short curly blonde hair, Kirsty resides in the west of Edinburgh and often busks in the city centre.
Inspector Murray Tait said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about Kirsty as she has not made contact with friends or family since 29th June. If anyone has any information that can assist with our enquiries, they are urged to contact Police Scotland immediately on 101.”
Concern is growing for a young man who has now been missing from his Drylaw home for six days. Blair Davidson, who is 21, has not been seen since last Wednesday.
Blair left his home in Easter Drylaw Place some time after 8.30am to attend an appointment in the Tollcross area – but he has not been seen since.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Blair Davidson is 21 years old, 6ft tall, slim build, short dark brown hair, and usually has facial stubble. He was last seen wearing a dark grey tracksuit, carrying a black ‘Trespass’ rucksack, and also had a maroon tracksuit with him.”
Inspector Graeme Dignan, who is leading the search, added: “I am asking anyone who has seen him, or has information about his whereabouts, to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 800 555 111.”
