Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre are looking to appoint a Project Co-ordinator to devise and deliver a Warm Hub at Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre on a freelance basis from December 2022 – March 2023 (4 months).
Role Description
Project Co-ordinator
To organise Community Hub events at Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre: two evenings per week and a Sunday (open to the public 6 – 8pm evenings and 12 -2pm on Sunday)
– Prepare for the events and programme of activities – Organise food and refreshments (likely number of attendees up to 20 families) – Advertise the events using social media and local networks – Recruit and organise Volunteers – Work with other organisations in North Edinburgh, to put together a programme of activities at the events – Organise tavel (for participants) – Set up, attend, oversee, and take down at the events, – Review the events after one month and report to the Board with any changes needed.
21 hours per week, Fee: £1,250 per month for four months
Proposed allocation of weekly hours:
– Setting up programme, advertising, working with other organisations, appointing volunteers and other necessary jobs to ensure attendance at the events: 7 hours – Preparation for events: 3 hours – Setting up events, attending events, take down and closing building: 10 hours – Monitoring the activity and reporting to the Board, to include written reports for funders: 1 hour.

We are currently looking for a Welfare Rights Adviser to join our organisation.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping people and understands the importance of individuals having access to free and impartial advice, advocacy and representation on matters relating to benefits, welfare rights and debt issues.
Although experience in a similar role is preferred, full training will be provided and we are looking to hear from anyone who has useful transferable skills and an interest to work in this field (including graduates).
Granton Castle Walled Garden Development Officer (one year)

Are you interested in working with local volunteers and community groups to help protect and develop a late medieval walled garden in North West Edinburgh?
The Friends of Granton Castle Walled Garden are looking for a Development Officer to coordinate plans for work in the garden and in the community over the coming year, a time when we will all hope to see a different world emerging.
£15 ph for an average of 24hpw on a self-employed basis.
Under the oversight of the Trustees, duties would include:
Developing our website, communications and social media with regular updates and monthly newsletters;
Reorganising our database to update our contacts, volunteers, members/friends and associates while ensuring GDPR compliance;
Fundraising for our strategic plan including future funding for administrator, gardener, green gym, Victorian greenhouse re-build, workshops and events, utilities etc.;
Coordinating volunteers, special interest groups and working parties, especially for gardening, workshops and events;
Strengthening links with educational and community groups and increase participation of local residents;Updating policies: eg H & S, Safeguarding, Volunteer Induction;
Exploring feasibility of installation of electricity and water.
Hours of work will vary due to garden seasonality, events, workshops, meetings and when volunteers are available and will include some weekend working.
Formal qualifications are not essential, but experience of communicating and networking with Council and community groups, good MS Office and fund-raising skills and expertise in social media and database development, preferably within an historic, horticultural environment, required.

Part-time (24 hours p/w) Please note this post works 42 weeks out of 52 with the fixed holidays predominately following the school holidays.

The salary below is pro-rated across the year.
Salary – £10,616 (hourly rate £9.02) – Qualified at HNC/SVQ 3 level
