New opening hours for Fresh Start Pantry/Shop from 6th September
From Monday 6 September, Fresh Start’s Pantry and Shop will streamline their opening hours to 9.30am – 12.30pm, Monday, Tuesday & Friday.
Free ‘nearly new’ school uniforms at Fresh Start event next week
Fresh Start and @EdinUniformBank are running a free ‘nearly new’ school uniform drop in for families in need of help with school uniforms on Wed 11th & Thurs 12th August at Fresh Start Pantry, 28 Ferry Rd Drive, EH4 4BR.
PLEASE NOTE: This event is ONLY for families at Forthview, Craigroyston, Pirniehall & St David’s Primaries and Craigroyston High School. We will not have uniform available for other schools.
Numbers will be limited due to Covid restrictions & uniform is subject to availability.
Police seek witnesses to serious West Pilton road accident
Fifteen year old girl in critical condition in hospital
Road Policing Officers are appealing for information after a serious road crash took place in West Pilton on Friday evening.
Around 5.25pm on Friday (4 June 2021), a red coloured Audi Q3 and an electric motorbike collided on West Pilton Street, at the junction with Ferry Road Drive.
A 15-year-old girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children where she remains in a critical but stable condition. A 14-year-old girl was also taken to the same hospital to be treated for injuries.
Sergeant Steve Livesey said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident take place or and has not already spoken to police to get in touch. The street was busy and therefore we are aware there were a number of witnesses.”

West Pilton attempted murder: Police appeal for witnesses
Detectives are appealing for information following the attempted murder of a 19 year-old man at a flat in West Pilton Grove last night.
At around 8.40pm on Wednesday evening (7th October), the 19 year-old man and another man were outside shops on Ferry Road Drive in Edinburgh, when they were involved in an altercation with a group of youths.
The 19 year-old man received a facial injury then made his way home to West Pilton Grove.
At around 9.30pm, he was in the flat when four men forced entry and seriously assaulted him. Police and Ambulance attended and the injured man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Hospital where he is being treated for stab wounds.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.
The four men responsible are white and aged in their late teens or early twenties:
The first man was of medium build and wearing a grey hooded top, a black gilet and black jogging trousers.
The second man was wearing a black hooded top and black jogging trousers.
The third man was wearing a green top and black jogging trousers,
The fourth man was of heavy build and wearing a black hooded top, blue t-shirt, black jogging trousers and white trainers.
Detective Sergeant Rory Legge of Corstorphine Police Station said: “Our enquiries are continuing into this incident and we have been carrying out enquiries and gathering CCTV from the local area to help us establish the identity of the four men responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed, or who has information on the incident outside the shops on Ferry Road Drive or the further assault in West Pilton Grove to contact us as soon as possible. “Anyone with information should contact Corstorphine Police Station through 101 quoting reference number 3512 of 7 October.
“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”

Pilton Central Association are inviting you to have your say on what should happen to their premises on Ferry Road Drive.
PCA owns the Thrift Shop and the adjacent offices (formerly Working Links) on Ferry Road Drive and they are now looking for ways in which the properties could be better used.
Come along to an informal breakfast meeting tomorrow (Monday 4 December) from 10am – 11.30 at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre and share your views. Refeshments will be provided and everyone is welcome.

Another PLAY OUT this Friday!
Go on – play out in the street! Following last weekend’s inaugural Play Out in Muirhouse on Saturday, the Total Craigroyston team has organised another fun day this Friday – and this time it’s in West Pilton.
This Friday, from 11 – 3pm, part of Ferry Road Drive will be blocked off to traffic and will become a fun family playground!
Among the activities planned are water balloons, traditional street games, water slides and puppet theatre with Licketyspit.
Last weekend’s event was a great, make Friday’s even better. Go on – play out in the street!
