Seeing red: new cycle lanes to make crossing tram tracks safer

New red-surfaced cycle lanes are to be installed at a number of key points along the tram route in the city centre. The measures, the first in a three-phase project to help all road users keep themselves and each other safe when negotiating the tram tracks, are aimed at demonstrating the optimum angle for crossing the tracks and reminding motorists to give cyclists extra space, particularly near tramlines. Green light for Edinburgh active travel projects

Last lap for Meadowbank as December closure confirmed

After a run of almost 50 years, Meadowbank Stadium will shut its doors on 3rd December, the city council has confirmed. The closure of the flagship venue, which was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, will mark the start of major redevelopment plans to create a new state-of-the-art sports centre on the same site. City council publishes £165.2 million business case to extend tram line to Leith and Newhaven

The Outline Business Case (OBC) for taking Edinburgh’s tram service down to Leith and Newhaven has been published. The news will not be met with unrestrained joy: the proposed tram line extension would see Leith Walk cut down to just ONE LANE for eighteen months if the £165.2 million project is approved.
