Morrisons charity football match raises £832

The weather was awful, but Sunday night’s charity football match at Spartans between the two local Morrisons stores still raised an impressive £832.76

Congratulations to the organisers and to everyone who took part to help raise funds for SAMH and CLIC SARGENT.

The match result? On an evening better suited to water polo Ferry Road beat their Granton Waterfront rivals 4 – 0!

Kate Wimpress appointed Co-Convener of Citizen’s Assembly

North Edinburgh Arts chief to joint-lead national engagement initiative

Two independent conveners have been appointed to lead the first Citizens’ Assembly of Scotland. Former Labour MEP David Martin and third sector leader Kate Wimpress were welcomed to the role by Constitutional Relations Secretary Michael Russell, who described it as a key moment for the project.

John Swinney: “These are a strong set of results”

Entries and pass rates for National 5 have increased and Higher results in Science have improved according to annual SQA results.  

In a set of results that reflect the continued high standards of the Scottish qualification system, the pass rate for National 5 increased by 0.7 percentage points to 78.2% and the pass rate at Higher decreased 2.0 percentage points to 74.8%. Ian Rankin meets “phenomenal” Oor Wullie statue he co-created

Crime fiction writer Ian Rankin has hailed the Sherlock Holmes-inspired Oor Wullie sculpture he co-created as “phenomenal”.  

“Oor Sherlock Holmes” is a collaboration between Ian Rankin and Edinburgh-based artist Chris Rutterford which pays tribute to Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic character – complete with deer-stalker hat, cape and pipe.   Continue reading Ian Rankin meets “phenomenal” Oor Wullie statue he co-created
