Free storytelling event at Granton:Hub this Friday
Looking for something to do with the kids this Friday? Multicultural Women’s Group, Edinburgh are holding a Bilingual/Multilingual storytelling session at granton:hub.
They will be exploring the story ‘we are going on a bear hunt’ via an engaging and interactive storytelling session. These stories will be told in Arabic, English and possibly in a few more languages. It’s great fun for the children and adults alike. Pop by if you are around!

One in four Scottish children live in poverty as parents locked out of job market
Ambitious targets to reduce child poverty will stall, warns charity
In its state of the nation report, Poverty in Scotland 2018 (below), the independent Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) warns one in four (230,000) children in Scotland live in poverty. The report comes as Challenge Poverty? Aye we can! gets underway, a campaign by the Poverty Alliance which shows how poverty in Scotland can be solved and allow everyone to take part in society. Save Leith Walk respond to Drum statement
Save Leith Walk has submitted 15,850 objections to Drum Property’s
plan to demolish 106-154 Leith Walk, to destroy the independent
businesses using the building and to build an over-tall and
dominating student residence in its place. All these objections
were gathered voluntarily and everyone given an opportunity to make
their own personal views clear.
Support for Drum’s Leith Walk plans
Drum Property Group has revealed high levels of public support for its planning application which is set to transform Stead’s Place, near the foot of Leith Walk. More than 2,000 letters of support for Drum’s development proposals have been lodged with the City of Edinburgh Council, in advance of the committee hearing later this year.
