Pedestrian seriously injured after taxi mounts pavement

A man is in a serious condition after being hit by a taxi which mounted a pavement in the city centre yesterday.

Edinburgh Invited to Say Cheerio to Oor Wullie

 

Oor Wullie enthusiasts are to have one last chance to see all 150 life-sized and mini sculptures from the Edinburgh trail at Oor Wullie’s BIG Farewell Weekend next month.

CCTV footage released following Dundee Street assault

Police in Edinburgh have issued CCTV footage of a man they wish to speak to who may be able to assist with their enquiries following an assault.

The incident took place on Sunday 28th April 2019 at 4am on Dundee Street, when a man was injured and required hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Keith Tulloch of Corstorphine CID said: “This was a particularly nasty incident from which the victim has sustained a serious injury.

“We believe the man in the footage may be able to assist us with our enquiries and we are appealing for him, or anyone who may know him, to make contact with Police Scotland.”

Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 900 of the 28th April, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to report anonymously.

Happy Birthday, Gruffalo!

As ever, there are some big names at this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival – but the biggest star of them all kicked off the annual event in Charlotte Square Gardens yesterday. The Gruffalo came to town to get the party started – which is quite appropriate as the children’s favourite is celebrating his twentieth birthday!

  • Plan ahead your travel using
  • There are two entrances to the site so please use both (the box office is located at the East Entrance and you should use this if you need to collect a ticket)
  • There will be security on entry so please expect searches and queues on entry
  • Bag searches will be in place – please don’t bring a bag larger than A3 as it won’t be permitted
  • Be prepared for all weather conditions as the weather is very unpredictable – umbrellas are not permitted
  • If you feel unwell, please seek help immediately from a member of festival staff or a steward

Drop and Roll at Underbelly raises £6,915 in support of OneCity Trust

There was a packed house at Underbelly’s Circus Hub on Wednesday, where a special gala performance of Danny MacAskill’s Drop and Roll raised £6,915 in support of OneCity Trust’s work in Edinburgh.

“Tremendous response” to three council consultations

The city council has received more than 8,000 consultation responses to the consultation on major changes proposed for Edinburgh’s city centre. The capital’s population is now aroung half a million people.
