Thistle offers Christmas cheer on Election Day

Thistle marks 75th Christmas with Community Event in Craigmillar

Leading Edinburgh-based health and wellbeing charity, Thistle, celebrates its 75th Christmas today with a special community event between 2-4pm at its Centre of Wellbeing, Craigmillar. The charity aims to bring some Christmas cheer to the community before or after people have voted.

A Christmas tree has been donated by GP Plantscape and the Centre is decked with bunting made by Thistle’s community groups and decorations specially made by children from the Refugee Action Scotland (Re-Act) group which also holds activities at Thistle.

The community Christmas event includes a display of photographs that brings to life the history of Thistle over the charity’s 75 years in Craigmillar where it continues to support people to live life to the full regardless of long-term health condition or disability.

Entrance to the event is free and there will be home-made Christmas crafts to buy, home-baking and refreshments.

In recognition of how family and friends can light-up people’s lives, at its Community Christmas, Thistle is inviting people to contribute to Centre decorations by mindfully designing light bulbs in celebration of someone who lights up their lives.
