Edinburgh Napier University students will work through the night to cover the unfolding story of the General Election on the radio airwaves and online.
A team of journalism, TV and photography students will capture the latest developments from counts across the UK.
The special coverage begins at 10pm on Thursday and will feature live location reports as well as interviews with candidates and expert comment from pundits.
Edinburgh Napier will be the central hub for coverage of an election which is set to determine the country’s future political direction after the lengthy stalemate which followed the 2016 Brexit referendum, with several other UK universities contributing to the output, including Solent, Robert Gordon, Middlesex, Westminster and University of the West of Scotland.
Project leader Alex Kocic, programme leader for the university’s BA journalism course, said: “This landmark General Election will give our media students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills.
“It gives them a chance to experience working under pressure on a truly major news story which affects every single person in the UK.”
