Festival of Physics prepares to blast off at Dynamic Earth

On the 25, 26 and 27 October, the Festival of Physics will return to Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh for a celebration of science, discovery, and innovation.

With family events in the daytime, and evening shows and talks, the festival is packed with over 30 different activities across three days. There’s no need to know anything about science, as all are invited to enjoy the celebration. All events are completely free of charge.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, there will be shows and talks for all ages about exploration to the moon and far beyond. Through music, gaming, theatre, comedy and hands-on workshops, some of the most important ideas in our rapidly changing world will come to life. Come dance a ceilidh with atoms, watch black holes collide, and expect the unexpected!

Mikey Jarrell, IOP public engagement manager for Scotland, said: “There really is something for everyone at the Festival of Physics this year.

“Curiosity about the world around us is such a positive force in society, and groundbreaking discoveries in physics are being made right here in Scotland.

“We’re inviting everyone to share in the excitement, no matter where you’re from or how old you are.”

The festival is now in its third year and returns to Dynamic Earth following a hugely popular festival in 2018. While tickets are free, reservations are required for the seated workshops, shows and talks.

Full details can be found at https://festivalofphysics.org/, or on Facebook. Events take place on Friday 25th, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October.
