Foster Care Fortnight: Change A Future

Foster Care Fortnight™ is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering. It is also the UK’s biggest foster carer recruitment campaign.

Foster Care Fortnight 2019 takes place from 13th to 26th May and this year’s theme is, ‘change a future’. Showing how fostering can change futures – the futures of fostered children and young people and the futures of the foster families who care for them. If you think you have the relevant skills and experience, we’re calling on you to consider becoming foster carers so that you can also #changeafuture.

We are proud to be supporting Forster Care Fortnight to help raise awareness of fostering in Scotland and changing a young person’s future. Every 20 minutes a child comes in to the care system and needs a foster family. This equates to more than 1,000 children and young people during the duration of Foster Care Fortnight!

Isobel Hodge, Registered Manager of FCA Scotland, said: “Many people say they would love to foster but they think their personal circumstances may prevent them from doing so. There are many misconceptions about fostering and myths that need to be broken-down.

“There is currently a shortage of foster carers across Scotland, so it’s essential that we challenge the misconceptions surrounding these perceived barriers to prevent potential foster carers from not making that first enquiry.

“Foster Care Fortnight is a great opportunity to talk to our team and have an informal chat to find out more about fostering. People are often surprised by how much support and training is available and this is a key driver for many people taking the first step towards becoming foster carers.”

If you think you could change a future, fill in the enquiry form or call 0141 646 4805 to talk to a member of our team.
