Compassion in World Farming event at Blackhall Library

Local volunteers of the leading farm animal welfare charity, Compassion in World Farming, will be hosting a lively evening of discussion on Wednesday 13th March at Blackhall Library.

Attendees and speakers are invited to explore the topic ‘Our Health, Our Planet’s Health’. This will examine the detrimental impacts of industrial farming to our health, the environment and the animals which are reared in intensive agricultural systems.

Joining the debate will be guest speakers Peter Stevenson, Chief Policy Advisor at Compassion in World Farming and Dr Jonathan Whittle, Local Hospital Specialist. Experts in their fields, Peter and Jonathan will bring the facts and knowledge to ensure an insightful, informative and thought provoking conversation.

Peter Stevenson, who will be speaking at the event said: “Billions of animals are raised in factory farms globally. These intensive systems put production above all else, creating vast quantities of seemingly cheap meat, milk and eggs.

But factory farming comes at a cost – it is cruel, inefficient, hugely wasteful, and deeply damaging to the planet.”

The event will start at 18:30 and closes at 19.45.

To book a free place please telephone Blackhall Library on 0131 529 5595 or email blackhall.library@edinburgh.gov.uk
