Klopp’s cream of the Kop set for Spartans summer friendly

As part of Spartans Community Football Academy’s 10 year anniversary celebrations, The Spartans FC is delighted to announce that we will host Liverpool FC at Ainslie Park in a pre-season friendly on the evening of Monday 15th July.

Jurgen Klopp’s Premiership title chasing side will head North of the Border where an Under 23  XI will take on the two times Lowland League champions.

Spartans Chairman Craig Graham is really excited by the prospect: “We are very grateful to Liverpool FC for agreeing to play a part in our celebrations and I am sure it will be an evening to remember for everyone.

“We are very proud of the impact we have had in our North Edinburgh community over the last 10 years and the game will give us the impetus and energy to continue our work.

“We hosted a Manchester United XI in 2011 which featured Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.  Local people still talk about the game like it was yesterday and I am sure this will be another fantastic occasion.”

Readers may remember a young Manchester United team played Spartans in a friendly at Ainslie Park a few years back. Stand out player that sunny afternoon  was a talented young Paul Pogba: I wonder what ever happened to him?

Further information, including match ticket and hospitality package arrangements will be available via Spartans social media channels in due course.
