MBE for Val Munro

North Edinburgh Arts is thrilled to announce that Val Munro, our Chair from 2009 to 2017, has been awarded an MBE in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Val was vital to the reshaping of North Edinburgh Arts throughout the past decade, working with grit, determination, and a great deal of warmth and humour alongside the staff team to help steer NEA out of troubled waters into the thriving organisation it is today.

Throughout her life Val has had a very varied and fulfilling involvement in thearts both professionally and as a volunteer in Glasgow, Aberdeen, andEdinburgh.

From a start in teaching movement and dance to young people, then working with individuals and groups, initiating and developing participative projects, to performing at a high level and sharing her love of the performingArts with many people across Scotland.

Always at the heart of her practice is the desire to share her knowledge and enthusiasm and to see people grow and develop, and experience first-hand the life changing potential of being engaged in a creative arts experience.

Hooray for Val MBE! You have graced our Boardroom, studios and stage with style…we will give you a wee curtsey the next time you are in!
