Friday: Learning Disability Festival on Leith Links

Hi there

We would like to invite you to Edinburgh’s Learning Disability Festival 2018!

For the past 4 years people who have a learning disability and the Local Area Co-ordination Team, along with other organisations across the city including Garvald, Orcadia, Upward Mobility, Get2Gether, Volunteers Centre Edinburgh and Edinburgh College have planned and organised this event.

There will be a stage where various performers will be showcasing their talents, a “Catwalk of Success” where anyone on the day can talk about their achievements and there will also be stalls where people will have the opportunity to purchase items that have been made by people with learning disabilities.  There will also be an opportunity to take part in various sports including football, boccia and rugby.  There will be face-painting and activities for children.

The event is now in its 4th year.  It has grown in popularity year on year, with last year’s festival being a great success (despite the rain)!  To many, the Learning Disability Festival is seen as an opportunity to explore and celebrate the contributions people who have a learning disability make to our wider community.

The event will be taking place at Leith Links in close proximity to the Franklin Cricket Club on 25 May 2018.  It will start at 11.30am with an opening speech by Michael Connolly from the Local Area Co-ordination Team, Edinburgh.

We hope to see you there on the day!

Best wishes

Vicky Nicolson
