Youth players from Civil Service Strollers are celebrating after being awarded £1,000 by The Old Kirk and Muirhouse Parish Church. The local church organised a participatory budgeting event last weekend and Civil Youth was among six local projects to share in the £4500 ‘Your Voice, Your Choice’ fund.
Youth section committee member, Claire Kidd, said “We are delighted to receive this funding form the local church. It will be used to expand the work that we do in the local community – offering over 100 local kids each week with football opportunities. It will also be used to assist in some coach training and buying some new equipment.
“This funding comes at a really good time as we are in the process of looking at ways to develop our club and take it forward. We have spent a long time setting the section up and we are now looking to expand this further.
“We try and keep the costs to the parents and carers as low as we can and make sure we provide a great experience for all our members. Like most clubs in our position we couldn’t possibly do this without the all the volunteer coaches and parents who help us.”
Civil Youth have been running for around three years and is part of the Civil Service Strollers club, who celebrate their 110th anniversary later this year. The club have been based in Muirhouse for over sixty years.
Claire added: “This will be a big year for us as we establish another two teams playing in the club. Everyone at the Civil would like to thank the Church for their very kind award.”
Civil Youth Section offers a wide range of football coaching for kids.
