Letters: Salisbury – cui bono?

Dear Editor

There have been too many coincidences for comfort happening over the last few weeks. The posion attack in Salisbury, followed by the almost immediate blaming of the Russians by leading political figures – before any official tests on the poison had taken place.

The blaming of Russia was quickly taken up by many politicians in Government and others speaking to the media, all saying it was ‘quite likely” or “it was possible” the attack was carried out by the Russians.

Weeks on, the accusations have increased but the investigators have not made any conclusions about the poisoning.

The Scripal’s recovery has been remarkable in the circumstances, which in itself raises questions about the type of poison used – and by whom.

The most worrying issue is the volume of the anti-Russian attitude that is being co-ordinated. This requires an answer to the question: why? And who gains from it?
