The Scottish SPCA has received SIXTY hoses from Fresh Start after the West Pilton-based charity was mysteriously sent the garden equipment through an anonymous Amazon donation last month.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity appealed to Fresh Start to donate the hoses to their centre in Glasgow to help them clean their kennels and equipment.
Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre Superintendent Sharon Comrie said, “We noticed that Fresh Start had put an appeal out asking for household goods, rather than hoses, as none of the people they help have homes with a garden.
“We didn’t want to see them go to waste so were delighted when Fresh Start agreed to re-gift us the donated hoses!
“Our centres are always in need of them and will be a massive help for our team in Glasgow. We don’t receive any government or lottery funding which means we rely on the public to be able to continue our work rescuing and rehoming animals in desperate need of our help.”
Biddy Kelly from Fresh Start said, “Fresh Start receives a lot of new and donated goods which are packed by our volunteers and redistributed to people who have experienced homelessness when they are moving into a tenancy.
“It is not uncommon for supporters to send goods directly to us, but it was uncommon for us to receive numerous boxes of hoses over a period of weeks! After trying to find out who was sending them we were contacted by the Scottish SPCA and were delighted that we could pass them on another charity who would be able to put them to good use.”
