Three time in Trinity

victoria park (3)

Just a quick note about three things happening soon near or in Trinity that may be of interest (writes Trinity Community Council’s Bill Rodger)…

ONE

In Trinity itself, Friends of Victoria Park has now been established under the interim chairmanship of Antonia Boyce.  This will bring a number of advantages to the park including improved access to funding.

The inaugural meeting will be held in Trinity Academy at 7pm on Thursday 17 March.  If you use or are interested in Victoria Park and its future please come along, lend your support and let FoVP have your views on what might be done in the Park to improve it.  If you are unable to attend but have ideas or wish to become a Friend please email friendsofvp@gmail.com or contact Tim Parker on 554 2076.

TWO

To our west, following the weekend’s Craft Fair, it all seems to be happening at Madelvic House!  Regular readers will be aware that the National Museums of Scotland have acquired the site of Europe’s oldest electric car factory right next door.  The core idea is simply to warehouse items from their collections there until it is that item’s turn for a place on a wall.  But could this be more imaginative?  A Gallery?  Studios?  Restoration master classes?

National Museums appear to be genuinely interested in how they might better develop the facility.  It does seem like a honest attempt by an important national institution to properly engage with the local community at an early stage rather than the all-too-frequent imposition of a design on the site so why not pop along between 11am – 4pm on Saturday 5 March or 2pm – 8pm on Tuesday 8 March.

THREE

And to the east, there will be a third chance to discuss Ocean Terminal’s radical plans for a major hotel development if you come along to Trinity CC’s next meeting on Monday 14 March at 7 pm in Wardie Parish Church, Primrose Bank Road.

Have you seen the plans yet?  They are very bold and bound to create controversy.  Is it what the Waterfront needs or simply too big?  If you haven’t seen them or if you have and would like another say or if you would like to hear what others think then do come along and give us your opinions.

Trinity CC meetings are open to all and if you haven’t been to one already this might be a great time to start!

Hope to see you at one or more of these events. Best wishes,

Bill Rodger
