Bumper year for Millennium Centre

No fewer than 21,850 people used Muirhouse Millennium Community Centre during 2015 during an incredibly busy year – and staff and volunteers are looking forward to even ‘bigger and better’ things in the year ahead!

That’s some achievement for a centre with a staff team of just one full-time and one part-time workers who work alongside a dedicated group of volunteers.

James McGinty, one of that dedicated band, said: “Happy new Year to all our users, the people who make so many activities possible and our many sponsors. A bit late with this, but I joined the many hit by the dreaded virus this year.

“All the other members who serve this Centre have come through unscathed and look forward to the many challenges and fun in 2016. Meanwhile back at the centre our attendance figures for December were amazing, open for just 14 days in December we recorded a total of 1664 activity users! Thanks to all concerned, despite, the abysmal weather.”

“The Centre thanks all the people who supported Muirhouse Millennium Community Centre bus by using our groups, clubs, cafe, social area etc and we look forward to even bigger and better things in the coming year.”

Among the first visitors of 2016 was Local Government and Community Empowerment Minister Marco Biagi (above, right), who joined local MSP Colin Keir to meet staff and volunteers at centre last week.
