The name game: the Royal British is now Hotel Indigo

Princes Street’s famous Royal British Hotel has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment and conversion to see it become a Hotel Indigo® branded property.

Owned and operated under a franchise agreement by Cairn Group, Hotel Indigo® Edinburgh Princes Street takes pride of place on Edinburgh’s most famous street, offering 64 bedrooms and welcoming business travellers and tourists alike.

Following Cairn Group successfully refinancing £101m with the help of HSBC, in a deal supported by Mincoffs Solicitors LLP earlier in 2016, which set aside £50m of the total pot for acquisition and development to strengthen its portfolio, the extensive refurbishment has touched on all areas of the hotel.

The works have implemented the Hotel Indigo® brand and USP ‘living like a local’ to the whole property, including the bedrooms (below), lobby and reception, as well as award-winning venue and premier leisure spot cocktail bar Juniper, which is evident in the high quality décor, furniture, and service.

New job creation has also been on the agenda, with 12 permanent positions created as a result of the conversion.

Naveen Handa, director at Cairn Group, said: “It’s an exciting time for the business as we launch Hotel Indigo® Edinburgh Princes Street – a landmark hotel in the city. Edinburgh has such a vibrancy about it and is the perfect place to house a Hotel Indigo® branded property.

“As a result of the conversion and significant investment, the hotel has had its offering for guests enhanced, as well as bringing new jobs to the city and creating opportunities for staff progression and development.

“Whether visiting Edinburgh for a long weekend or on business, guests staying at Hotel Indigo® Edinburgh Princes Street can expect to enjoy unrivalled views of the city in plush surroundings, with convenient access to Juniper, and Twenty Princes Street; the grill and smoke house sitting within the hotel.”
