Amnes-T in the Park!

Broughton High School students stage event to support  World Refugee Day

On Saturday 20 June (10am– 2pm), Broughton High School’s Amnesty International Youth Group is holding Amnes-T in the Park to raise awareness of World Refugee Day. Get into the summer festival vibe and come along to the school’s rugby pitch for a day of live music, games and food for all the family to enjoy! 

New local talent, including Rastafarian White Boys, will bring the field alive as you dig into a delicious selection of home baking. The event will focus on the current issues surrounding refugees through a series of artwork made by school pupils. These will highlight important facts in a fun and engaging way!

All ages are welcome, although primary school children should be accompanied by an adult – and entry is free!

All the money raised on the day will go towards helping Amnesty International carry out their vitally important work protecting human rights worldwide.

Making it Work: New sessions at Muirhouse

Making It Work’s Pauline Bowie is running an information drop-in for a few weeks before the activities begin.  These will run in the Cafe area on Tuesdays from 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm. and on Thursdays from 10.00 am – 1.00 pm.
So just pop along if  you are interested in attending the Mothers & Toddlers sessions or if you are a single parent with a youngster under five years old.

GRIM O’GRADY FUND

You might know that Grim (or Garry to give him his Sunday name) came home (Thursday 14 May) to find his family house in North Edinburgh had been destroyed in a fire. Grim and his family have lost all their possessions including his wonderful dog Buster and their cats.

To help Grim and his family quickly get back on their feet we have set up a collection for them via the Spartans Academy just giving website.

Everyone right across Spartans knows Grim and the fantastic contribution he makes, especially to the Spartans Connections programme. He has given up so much to help a large number of people within the North Edinburgh community and we’re hoping the Spartans, Lowland League and Scottish Football communities can help him in his time of need.

The football club will start the collection with a contribution of £500. If you would like to make a contribution but cannot do it online, please hand it into the Academy office and let them know it is for the Grim O’Grady Fund. If you want to contribute by cheque please make it payable to our charity, The Spartans Community Football Academy.
