Police appeal following serious crash on Howden Hall Road

Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the A701 Howden Hall Road near the junction with Alnwickhill Road, around 2.20pm yesterday – Thursday, 6 February 2025.

The pedestrian, an 89-year-old woman, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Land Rover was not injured.

The road was closed for around three hours to allow for investigations to be carried out.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist our enquiries to contact us.”

Police appeal following serious crash in West Lothian

Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash in West Lothian.

Around 2.35pm yesterday (Sunday, 7 July), officers were called to a report of a collision involving a grey Audi A1 and a blue VW Tiguan on the A704, just off the A71, in West Calder.

Emergency services attended and two women, the driver and passenger of the Audi were taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The passenger, a 69-year-old woman, remains in a critical but stable condition.

Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are asking anyone who has not already spoken to officers and can assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“We would also like to see any dashcam footage from the area, including any that captures both vehicles prior to the collision happening.”

Appeal for information following serious crash on Calder Road

Road Policing officers in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a serious crash involving a pedestrian, which took place on Calder Road.

The incident happened around 7.35am this morning (Thursday, 24 November) involving a white Ford Transit van and a 19-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the van was uninjured.

The road was closed until around 11.45am as an investigation was carried out. Further enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick, from the Edinburgh Road Policing Team, said: “If you witnessed this incident, have any potential dashcam footage, or were in the area and have any information which may assist our enquiries, please call police on 101, quoting incident 0489 of 24 November, 2022.”
