Edinburgh lights up red for Poppyscotland

Landmarks across Edinburgh are joining a host of Scotland’s most famous buildings, structures and sculptures, in lighting up Poppy red to raise awareness for the annual fundraising campaign run by Poppyscotland. Edinburgh Castle, St Giles’ Cathedral, The Balmoral clock tower, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Airport control tower, EICC and Scottish Government buildings Victoria Quay and St Andrews House, will turn the capital red in a powerful and visual show of support for the Scottish Poppy Appeal. Edinburgh Poppy Day is “biggest and best yet”

Thousands of people descended upon St Andrew Square yesterday to enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment at the fourth annual Edinburgh Poppy Day. The event, which raised almost £20,000 last year, is part of the 2017 Scottish Poppy Appeal run by leading Armed Forces charity Poppyscotland. UK Government Ministers host Poppyscotland launch

UK Government ministers hosted the launch of this year’s appeal, encouraging everyone to use their old ‘round pounds’ to purchase their poppy. Although the deadline for the old ‘round pound’ coin passed on 15 October, they can still be banked or donated to charity, with Poppyscotland happily accepting donations. New £4m programme to support older veterans launched

A £4 million programme to support older Armed Forces veterans in Scotland has been officially launched. The Unforgotten Forces project, launched by Scottish Veterans Commissioner Eric Fraser CBE at the Legion Scotland Club in Grangemouth yesterday, will fund a programme of support for older veterans and their families in Scotland. Sportive cycling event raises thousands for Poppyscotland

Almost 900 riders took to the streets and hills of East Lothian yesterday as part of the annual Sportive cycling event and helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for Scotland’s leading Armed Forces charity. Poppyscotland’s Sportive is one of the most important awareness-raising and fundraising events in the charity’s calendar and has grown steadily in popularity since the first Sportive in 2014.
