Make It Happen: Creative Workshops at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre

Calling all local creatives, makers, and entrepreneurs. 🌈✨🎨

Ready to elevate your brand and conquer social media? Join us for two special workshops this Saturday 9 March at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre.

Rachel of Rachel Henderson Interiors will share her expertise on developing your brand and social media presence through two hands-on, creative workshops. Join us for one or both!

📍1:30pm – 3.30pm: Branding & Vision Board Workshop

📍4pm – 6pm: Social Media Workshop

Lunch and refreshments provided; and childcare is available.

Free but limited spaces available, so advance booking is essential. You can attend one workshop if that is of most interest, or book your space for both.

The workshops are aimed at local adults living in North Edinburgh (Muirhouse, Pilton, Drylaw, Granton). Part of the Make It Happen project, proudly supported by the Scottish Ecosystem Fund 2023-24.

TODAY: North Edinburgh Film Festival

2024 North Edinburgh Film Festival is TODAY – Saturday 3 February (12.30pm to 5pm) at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre.

From 2.45pm on Screen 1 we’ll be presenting ‘North Edinburgh from the Archive’.

Screen Education Edinburgh, formerly known as Pilton Video, opens its archive to bring you a fantastic selection of 9 short drama films that showcase North Edinburgh, its creativity, and its cinematic talent on and off screen.

Today promises to be a fantastic day celebrating community cinema and filmmaking in North Edinburgh. From filmmaking workshops and screenings of films created through North Edinburgh Arts’ Saturday programme, to an exhibition on local history and more, we have something for everyone to enjoy.

Look out for friends, family and neighbours on the big screen as we showcase some of the best locally-made films, as well as 5-star family favourite ‘Song of the Sea’.

Free entry – you can join us from the beginning at 12.30pm or drop in throughout the day. Food will also be provided, with opportunities to connect with local residents and neighbours.

Spanning both decades and genres, this selection of films highlights the talented people we’ve worked with over the years, as well as the creativity and vibrancy of the North Edinburgh community.

The North Edinburgh Film Festival is presented with North Edinburgh Arts and will be held at the West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre today = Saturday 3rd February – from 12.30pm-5pm.

It’s a completely free event, and you’re welcome to drop in throughout the day.

We’re delighted to let you know that the second edition of the North Edinburgh Film Festival will take place on Saturday 3 February at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre

Presented by Screen Education Edinburgh and North Edinburgh Arts, the Festival is a day celebrating community cinema and filmmaking in North Edinburgh.

The Festival will be held from 12.30pm to 5pm. It’s completely free to attend – you can join us from the beginning, or drop-in throughout the day.

Stories and Scran: A real Winter Warmer in West Pilton!

It was a full house at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday for Edinburgh International Book Festival’s Stories and Scran event.

Guests braved plunging temperatures to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea provided by Scran Academy and to hear a rich variety of stories and poems from EIBF’S Citizen programme participants.

Hosted by EIBF’s Ryan Van Winkle, the packed programme also included brilliant contributions from authors Kate Foster and Douglas Johnstone, and there was another welcome opportunity to see the touching documentary produced by North Edinburgh Arts’ Adult Drama Group.

Yes, it may have been freezing outside but there was a warm welcome and a cosy atmosphere in the local community centre. A real winter warmer!

North Edinburgh Arts: Community Studio Space Open Meeting

TUESDAY 31 OCTOBER 2 – 3pm

at WEST PILTON NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE

Artist Alice Betts, together with members of the Art for Grown Ups group, have been exploring and developing a plan for a permanent visual arts studio and making space within the expanded and refurbished NEA venue, due to re-open in 2024.

As part of her research project, Alice would like to hear from local creative adults who are interested in using a free visual arts studio space at North Edinburgh Arts.

Join the Open Meeting: NEA Community Studio Space on Tuesday 31 October at 2pm at West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre to share your thoughts and ideas about a community-accessible studio space within the refurbished NEA.

This event is open to local artists, creatives, and NEA project participants including those from the Community Shed, Create Community Wealth, Art for Grown Ups, and A Stitch in Time.

Come and help shape our future free space for North Edinburgh’s creative community. This is a free event. Advance booking isn’t required.
