Fort Kinnaird confirms festive opening hours

Fort Kinnaird has confirmed its festive opening hours, giving shoppers plenty of time to pick up last-minute gifts, make the most of a festive day out at the centre, and even enjoy the post-Christmas sales.    

This includes some stores extending their opening hours in the days leading up to Christmas to give visitors more time to get what they need. 

Fort Kinnaird’s festive opening hours are: 

  • Monday 22nd December: 9am – 9pm  
  • Tuesday 23rd December: 9am – 9pm 
  • Wednesday 24th December (Christmas Eve): 9am – 5pm  
  • Thursday 25th December (Christmas Day): Closed  
  • Friday 26th December (Boxing Day): 9am – 6pm  
  • Saturday 27th December: 9am – 6pm  
  • Sunday 28th December: 9am – 6pm  
  • Monday 29th December: 9am – 9pm 
  • Tuesday 30th December: 9am – 9pm  
  • Wednesday 31st December (New Year’s Eve): 9am – 5pm  
  • Thursday 1st January (New Year’s Day): 9am – 6pm (limited store openings – check with individual retailers) 
  • Friday 2nd January: 9am – 9pm (normal opening hours resume)  

Opening times may vary by store, particularly on bank holidays, so visitors are encouraged to check with individual retailers before travelling to the centre.  

Fort Kinnaird’s festive programme is already well underway, with the Winter Village, which includes a Christmas Market, fairground rides and two Circus shows, open until Sunday 28th December, as well as festive film character appearances as part of the centre’s seasonal line-up.

“Our extended opening hours throughout the Christmas week give shoppers plenty of flexibility, whether they’re picking up last-minute gifts or planning to spend a festive day out with loved ones.”

Fort Kinnaird has confirmed its festive opening times for last minute shopping and anyone planning a day out over the Christmas period.

Fort Kinnaird’s full opening times in the run up to and throughout the Christmas week are: 

  • Friday 20th December: 9am – 9pm
  • Saturday 21st December: 9am – 6pm
  • Sunday 22nd December: 9am – 6pm
  • Monday 23rd December: 9am – 9pm
  • Tuesday 24th December (Christmas Eve): 9am – 5pm
  • Wednesday 25th December (Christmas Day): Closed  
  • Thursday 26th December (Boxing Day): 9am – 6pm
  • Friday 27th December: 9am – 8pm
  • Saturday 28th December: 9am – 6pm
  • Sunday 29th December: 9am – 6pm
  • Monday 30th December: 9am – 9pm
  • Tuesday 31st December (Hogmanay): 9am – 5pm 
  • Wednesday 1st January (New Year’s Day): Selected stores open from 9am 6pm
  • Thursday 2nd January (Bank Holiday): 9am – 8pm
  • Friday 3rd January: 9am – 8pm
  • Saturday 4th January – normal trading hours resume: 9am – 6pm

Opening days and times will vary by store, so it’s always recommended that visitors check with individual retailers before setting off.

In collaboration with Edinburgh-based charity, Cyrenians, Fort Kinnaird has also launched a Letters of Hope initiative this festive season, collecting and distributing heartfelt Christmas cards to those at risk of homelessness in and around the city.  

Shoppers can post letters and cards into the special post box – located outside ODEON Cinema – until 20th December. They will then be distributed by Cyrenians in plenty of time for Christmas.

For those looking to get a last-minute gift, or head to the sales after Christmas, Fort Kinnaird has confirmed its opening times over the festive period.     

The centre will be open from 9am – 9pm in the week leading up to Christmas (Monday 18th – Friday 22nd December), 9am – 6pm on Saturday 23rd December and from 9am until 5pm on Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December).   

Opening days and times will vary by store, especially on Bank Holidays, so it’s always recommended that visitors check with individual retailers before setting off to avoid disappointment.
