Craigroyston Primary kids show their True Colours at art exhibition

Craigroyston Primary School staged their annual Art Exhibition at the school in Muirhouse last night.

This was the school’s 14th annual show of the children’s art work and the standard remains as high as it’s ever been. Every class in the school contributed work and there was a colourful surprise waiting around every corner.

The evening was opened in great style by the school’s Fischy Choir, who will be performing at a special event at the Botanics next week. The children – some of them as young as P3 – performed Cyndy Lauper’s True Colours, which couldn’t have been more appropriate on the night!

There was also a spirited performance by the school’s P7 band, the highlight of which was Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. This was also very appropriate as this piece of music is the EU’s official anthem and Craigroyston’s art exhibition took place on the day of the European elections.

Head Teacher Lorna Stewart thanked the staff who put so much effort into putting the exhibition together – “we don’t have specialist teachers, we have very special teachers” – and told parents to be very proud of their children’s achievements.

And so they should be – there was so much to enjoy on another terrific evening of celebration at Craigroyston and I’m looking forward to number 15 already!
