NHS Lothian A&E waiting times worst in Scotland over February

Latest figures have revealed that NHS Lothian is the worst performing Health Board in Scotland for A & E waiting times. Tory health spokesman Miles Briggs MSP says it’s another example of SNP Ministers failing people in Lothian.

Over the last two recorded weeks NHS Lothian has had the lowest percent of patients seen within the target of 4 hours, 80.7% and 82.6%, well below the target of 95%.

NHS Lothian has had the highest number of patients waiting over 8 hours to be seen with 76 and then 75, accounting for just over a third 34% of patients across Scotland being seen taking over 8 hours.

NHS Lothian has had the highest number of patients waiting over 12 hours to be seen with 31 and then 11, accounting for just under half 48% of patients across Scotland being seen taking over 12 hours.

Lothians MSP Miles Briggs commented: “It is totally unacceptable that patients in NHS Lothian are having to wait longer to be seen by Emergency Departments than the rest of Scotland.

“What is particularly concerning is that last month over a third of patients in Scotland waiting over 8 hours were in NHS Lothian and almost half of patients in Scotland waiting over 12 hours were in NHS Lothian. “NHS Lothian is consistently one of the worst performing Health Boards and this is another example of SNP Ministers failing people in Lothian”.
