Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was assaulted and robbed in the Northfield area.
The incident happened around 5pm on Monday (16 December) in Northfield Square.
A 77-year-old man was approached from behind where he was attacked, knocked to the ground and had a quantity of money stolen from his pocket.
The elderly victim got off the number 4 bus on Northfield Broadway after attending a Pensioners Christmas Party in the Piershill area.
Detective Constable Christina Yeoman, of Gayfield CID said: “This was a random and unprovoked attacked on an elderly man that this has left him extremely shaken.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.
“Those with any information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 1521 of 17 December, 2019. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
