Creating Change: community event at the Botanics

Creating Change is an event for community-minded people who have an active role in their communities. This is an opportunity to put on your community hat, step away from your every day distractions (however lovely and wonderful) and join us for a full day of learning, sharing, inspiring, and connecting with like-minded people.

There will be formal and informal activities, spaces for you to bring your own questions, challenges, and skills to the table, and opportunities to work together with others.

WHEN

Saturday 2 November 2019 from 10.30am to 5pm, with an optional social evening off-site at a community project from 6pm to 9pm.

WHERE

The stunning Botanic Cottage in the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh will be our venue until 5pm. Built on the other side of town in 1764-5, and with a fascinating history, the cottage is now based in the RBGE Demonstration Gardens and hosts a wide variety of education and community sessions, as well as public events, throughout the year.

For part of the day we will be using a room which is up a spiral staircase, but can also be accessed by external lift.

For the evening we will be going to a community project in Edinburgh for food, fun and a chance to continue connecting with people.

THE OFFER

The event is free, and we have a maximum of 40 places. We will provide refreshments, a light savoury lunch (we’ll ask everyone to contribute something sweet!) and an evening meal (should you wish to join us then) and would like this to be a very relaxed event where everyone gets stuck in and helps out.

We have a small number of bursaries to put towards assisting with travel costs if they would otherwise be a barrier. Please get in touch with us and we would love to discuss how we can support you to attend this event.

YOU

You are community-minded, representing yourself or a project. You are established in your community and have taken an active role for some time, and are looking for opportunities to develop your practice further, learn from peers, and share your experiences with others.

US

We are Eden Project Communities Scotland, and we support people like you!

As part of the Eden Project Communities yearly programme of activities across the UK, we deliver a number of regional and national events to help connect people who are active in their own communities. We run online workshops, Community Camps, and regional networking events.
