Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel chain announces it is opening six hotels in the lead up to Christmas. This equates to an average of one hotel opening every 12 days.
One of the new hotels is at South Gyle.
These six hotels represent an appropriate investment value of £45 million for third party investors and will boost the company’s portfolio to 595 hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain. (This includes over 44,500 rooms which include over 1,800 SuperRooms)
The new hotel locations include: Chippenham, Edinburgh, London Dagenham & Beckton, Rochester and Sittingbourne.
The six Travelodge hotels opening over the next 12 weeks includes one Travelodge Plus hotel, two hotels featuring SuperRooms, three new towns getting their first Travelodge and four hotels with an on-site restaurant called the Bar Café.
Room rates at these six hotels start from £29, book early at www.travelodge.co.uk
For a family of two adults and two children a £29 room works out at just £7.25 per person which is cheaper than a festive themed sandwich and an Xmas coffee!
Why not take advantage of this great offer and book a low cost festive break and keep the kids entertained over the 12 days of Christmas or why not whisk your partner away on a romantic break. See below for Xmascation ideas ?
Edinburgh Park Travelodge Plus
This hotel is the company first new build Travelodge Plus hotel in Scotland. It is the company’s 46th hotel in Scotland and 11th in Edinburgh and second Travelodge Plus hotel in the city.
Travelodge Plus is the company’s ‘budget chic’ hotel format, featuring new look standard rooms, SuperRooms and a new look restaurant. It is designed around the needs of the budget traveller who wants that little bit more style and choice with little touches to make it easier to work and relax both inside and outside the room.
The hotel is located close to the Edinburgh Park Railway station which offers easy access into the city centre as well as Glasgow and Stirling and the airport.
Chippenham Travelodge is the company’s third hotel in Chippenham and this opening also marks Travelodge becoming the town’s largest budget hotelier. The hotel is located in the town centre close to the railway station and is ideally placed to visit Bowood House and Gardens. It is also just four miles from the stone built village of Lacock which is owned by the National Trust and dates back to the 13th century and looks the same as it did 200 years ago.
Rochester Travelodge is the company’s first hotel in the town and is located in the quaint town centre by the railway station and a few minute walk to Rochester cathedral and castle. Rochester is deeply connected with Charles Dickens. Many of his novels include references to Rochester and the surrounding area where today two festivals are held in his honour, the Dickens and Dickensian Christmas Festival, where people dress up and re-enact characters from his books.
London – Dagenham & Beckton Travelodge hotels
Travelodge is opening two hotels in London in the lead up to Christmas; these two additions will boost the company’s portfolio in the Capital to 77.
The new Dagenham Travelodge is the company’s second hotel in the area; it opened its first Dagenham hotel in 2018. Travelodge is also opening its first hotel in Beckton which will feature SuperRooms – the company’s ‘premium economy’ room-type, featuring Lavazza coffee machines, irons and ironing boards, USB power outlets and a more comfortable desk and desk chair and a mini-chiller cabinet.
If you are looking for a low cost trip to London then both of these hotels are the ideal choices as they offer easy access into central London minus the hefty central London room rates.
Sittingbourne
This is the company’s first hotel in Sittingbourne and is located in the heart of the town centre. It is also within walking distance to Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway, a heritage railway that operates from Sittingbourne to the banks of The Swale ideal for family days out.
