Waverley Mall enjoys second weekend showcasing Scotland’s talent

Waverley Mall celebrated the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with two weekends packed with live music, performed by young and aspiring Scottish musicians.

Continuing its successful partnership with Edinburgh based not-for-profit organisation, The Youth Radio Network, ‘The Waverley Sessions – Fringe Special’ took place over the weekends of 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th August, with 25 acts taking to the stage across the weekends.

The event was hosted by Keiran Harvey and the team of volunteers from The Youth Radio Network and included a combination of solo artists, duos and groups.

Acts that took to the stage this weekend included 20-year-old Dylan Paterson from The Scottish Borders, Edinburgh born and bred Ciara McDonald, Glasgow based Jen Athan, 14-year-old Ethan Gibb from Livingston, three-piece Edinburgh based band Einstein’s Wardrobe and girl duo ‘In The Mix’.

The youngest performer to step up to the mic this weekend was returning act, 9-year-old Kara from Glenmavis, who closed Sunday’s show.

Both weekends were a fantastic celebration of talent from Scotland and beyond and saw musicians performing to a packed-out food court across the last two weekends of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Jacquelyn Stewart, General Manager, Waverley Mall said: “We’re thrilled at the success of The Waverley Sessions. The event has really gained momentum this year and we’ve been able to showcase a fantastic range of vocal and musical talent, which has gone down really well with the growing crowds.”

Keiran Harvey, CEO, The Youth Radio Network said: “The Waverley Sessions Fringe Special has been fantastic! The Buzz from the audience and performers alike has been electric at times, with such a great vibe created in the centre. We are absolutely thrilled to be part of it.”
