MSC Cruises – Introducing the ‘Social Quotient’

With over 1 billion people using Instagram each month, it’s not surprising that we all care about how our followers respond to our pictures.

But with Instagram having rocked the social media world by announcing it will be trialling hidden likes in a bid to limit any negative mental health effects, it’s clear that the time has come to focus more on taking pictures that will capture our fondest memories, rather than how many likes they might get.

MSC Cruises has worked with Dr Cliff Arnall, author of the famous Blue Monday movement, to create a formula comprising of Emotional resonance, Surprises and Design that allows you to capture your moments perfectly. So whether it be your first home, wedding day, or honeymoon, you’ll be able to do the memories justice! Introducing the ‘Social Quotient’.

Some interesting facts for Scotland:

  • Scots are the UK’s most prolific posters on Instagram when on holiday, with almost 70% of the Scottish public choosing to flaunt their getaways ahead of any other occasion
  • Over 60% of Scots enjoy looking at their friend’s holidays on Instagram more than anything else, including pictures of pets, food or even groups of friends.

Commenting on the Social Quotient Formula, Dr Cliff Arnall said, “When it comes to what we consider most beautiful, there’s lots we can learn from psychology to help us make the most beautiful posts.

“Whilst the key elements within the Social Quotient will help us create images that resonate as ‘beautiful’ to those that know us, it’s important to remember to be ourselves, and use this time to enjoy some wonderful adventures that we share online with our friends”.

MSC Cruises sent their influencer ambassadors, Brock & Betty Jeffrey, to test the formula for themselves and document their experience.
