Rescue dogs get a taste of Hollywood in a bid to find forever homes

Dogs Trust West Calder creates Hollywood Walk of Fame

Rescue dogs at Dogs Trust’s Rehoming Centre in West Calder have been getting a taste of Hollywood with their own special paw print on the centre’s ‘Walk of Fame’.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame inspired paw prints, which feature the profiles of doggy stars currently in the care of the rehoming centre, help guide potential dog owners through the reception area; and hopefully straight to their new pet’s kennel.

The ‘Walk of Fame’ forms part of a wider month-long campaign to find the perfect home for dogs who have been at the centre for some time and would love nothing more than to find a special home. The last Sunday of the month will be known as ‘Spotlight Sunday’, where potential owners will be invited to come along to the rehoming centre and find out more about the star canines featured in the team’s ‘walk of fame’.

First to claim his paw on the walk of fame is Bailey. Like Hollywood and television actor G W Bailey, Bailey is a well-known and beloved face at the centre.

Border Collie Bailey is nine years old and loves to be in the great outdoors. Going for walks where he can do lots of exploring; play with toys or spend a sunny afternoon rolling around in the grass. Bailey likes to be in the company of people he knows and trusts and the perfect home will allow him to enjoy his own space, while providing this handsome boy with a calm and quiet environment.

Another pooch to claim their paw on the walk of fame is five-year-old Lurcher Audrey. There is no doubt that Lurcher Audrey (above) has a striking resemblance to Hollywood star Audrey Hepburn. Like her counterpart, Audrey is a beautiful and lovable character, with her own bit of class.

Susan Tonner, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust West Calder, said: “Spotlight Sunday is the perfect opportunity for potential dog owners to find out more about our dogs with star potential, their loves and dreams.

“We have plenty of pooches who are waiting for their moment to shine. We want them to have every opportunity to be seen by potential owners and given a chance to fulfil their potential as family pets.”

One pooch desperate not to miss out on his chance to shine is the amazing Monty, a five-year-old Lurcher (above). Like his namesake, Hollywood star Montgomery “Monty” Clift was renowned for playing sensitive characters and canine Monty is definitely a sensitive boy in need of love and support.

He and one-year-old Bull Mastiff cross Spencer (below), who is a big presence at the Rehoming Centre and has been likened to Spencer Tracy, one of the major stars during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Spotlight Sunday will debut on Sunday 28th July at the Bentyhead rehoming centre. Anyone wishing to find out more about any of the centre’s star dogs can contact the team on 01506 873459 or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/our-centres/west-calder
