TL Dallas marks a century in business with charity campaign

TL Dallas, one of the UK’s leading independent insurance broking and risk management companies, is celebrating 100 years in business. To mark this significant milestone, the business has pledged to provide 12 months of support to a number of charities close to the hearts of its staff, including Alzheimer Scotland.

The fourth generation, family business has a distinguished heritage that was started in Yorkshire in 1919 by Scotsman Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE. The business has been expanding in Scotland since the 1990s with commercial teams in Glasgow and Shetland, a specialist credit insurance team in Falkirk and a team dedicated to private clients in Edinburgh.

The firm has grown substantially to boast a network of ten offices across the UK, providing services to 11,000 corporate and personal customers.

The charity initiative, which is backed by TL Dallas’s 120 employees across the UK, will see the team take on a series of challenges including skydiving, abseiling and concerts in order to raise £100,000 for the chosen charities. Additional centenary celebration milestones will also be held throughout the year.

Polly Staveley, Managing Director at TL Dallas, said: “This year marks an important anniversary for TL Dallas. Being able to celebrate 100 years since the business first opened its doors in 1919 is such an achievement.

“We are especially proud that myself and my brother, Mackenzie, as fourth generation members of the Dallas family, are now leading the business to its next phase. The success that has been seen over the last 100 years has laid the foundations for the business to continue growing and developing.

“It’s fantastic that we can celebrate 100 years by helping others, which is why we are so passionate about our charity campaign. The initiative has seen TL Dallas staff voting for a charity that they have personally been touched by so we’re really proud to be supporting a range of fantastic organisations, including Alzheimer Scotland, Mind your Head on Shetland and British Heart Foundation nationally.”

Claire Du Preez, Alzheimer Scotland, Corporate Partnership Manager, said: “With over 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland, and a rising number of people receiving a diagnosis, it is the biggest public health priority.

“We’re delighted to have been chosen by TL Dallas as part of their year-long support of charities chosen by employees. All money donated will help ensure that Alzheimer Scotland can continue to provide local dementia-specific support, services and advice, aiding our mission to make sure nobody faces dementia alone.”
