Blooming Great (1): Miles Briggs supports Marie Curie’s Blooming Great Tea Party

Lothian MSP Miles Briggs is joining Marie Curie to throw a Blooming Great Tea Party and raise money to support people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

Marie Curie’s Blooming Great Tea Party is now in its 12th year and runs throughout the summer of 2019.

Last year there were 140 Blooming Great Tea Parties across Scotland raising over £61,500.

Marie Curie Nurses made over 4,237 visits providing care and support to people in their own homes in Lothian in 2017/18. Anyone can also receive free support through the Marie Curie Information & Support Line on 0800 090 2309 or visit mariecurie.org.uk/help.

Lothian MSP Miles Briggs said: “Marie Curie is a great charity that supports people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

“Money raised through the Blooming Great Tea Party will go directly to funding nurses providing care and support for people in their own homes.

“The Blooming Great Tea Party runs throughout the summer and I would encourage anyone to get involved and throw a tea party for this tremendous cause.”

Susan Brown Policy & Public Affairs Manager Scotland added: “Thanks to Miles we hope more people will be inspired to take part and do something great this summer to raise money for Marie Curie.

“It doesn’t matter whether you #fakeit or #bakeit, if you throw a tea party and collect donations for Marie Curie you will be helping us reach more people affected by terminal illness and provide nursing care, information, emotional support and research to help them and their loved ones.”
