Final call to take part in the marvellous MoonWalk Circus!

MOONWALK SCOTLAND 2017

Roll up! Roll up! It is the final call for people across Scotland to put their best foot forward and take part in the iconic MoonWalk Scotland – entries closes at midnight on Friday 31 May.

Walkers will be wearing bras based on this year’s circus theme – Ring Master, clown, acrobat and Big Top inspired creations will add colour to the streets of Edinburgh.

Organised by grant-making breast cancer charity, Walk the Walk, The MoonWalk Scotland is on Saturday 8 June. Thousands of women, men and young people walk a quarter, half, full or double Marathon through the Capital City at Midnight to raise money and awareness to help fight the disease.

Camera Obscura, St Giles Cathedral, Queen Victoria at the National Galleries, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and The Mound will glow pink in support of the Walkers taking part in The MoonWalk. Hotels including the Radisson BluThe Balmoral, and Kimpton Charlotte Square will also be turning pink for the night.

Department store Jenners will be supporting The MoonWalk with a special window display and by offering mini makeovers for Walkers on the day of the event.

Founder and Chief Executive of Walk the Walk, Nina Barough CBE said: “The countdown to this year’s MoonWalk Scotland is on – if you’ve not signed up, it’s not too late!

“The 6.55 miles New Moon is the perfect distance for families or those looking to kick-start their fitness in time for Summer. The MoonWalk is one of the greatest experiences around so our circus theme is perfect for Walkers to have fun with getting dressed up.

“And, for one night only our Walkers will see the Capital City as never before, with many of the most iconic buildings being lit up in pink. Help us raise money and awareness to support the emotional stress and physical impact for those living with cancer in Scotland – don’t wait… do something special with your weekend and sign-up today!”

More than 86,000 Walkers have taken part in The MoonWalk Scotland since the event started in 2006, and so far, more than £21.5 million has been raised to improve the lives of those living with cancer in the country.

Setting off from Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, Walkers can take on one of four challenges at The MoonWalk Scotland; The New Moon (6.55 miles, open to people aged 10 and over), Half Moon (13.1 miles), Full Moon (26.2 miles) or Over The Moon (52.4 miles).

The MoonWalk Scotland is on Saturday 8 June.
