This summer, Climate Challenge Fund community organizations will host the Edinburgh Climate Festival on Saturday July 6th, 2019 from 12noon – 9pm in the Meadows.
This is a free, family event that aims to raise climate change awareness and to increase public knowledge on how to live more sustainably and ultimately to inspire and empower the public to take action on the current climate crisis. It is also an entirely plastic free event!
The Climate Festival is an incredible platform for sustainable groups to promote their initiatives and get more people involved in them. Activities on the day will include eco-workshops teaching skills like personal item repair, upcycling old belongings and food growing and foraging.
There will also be sustainable experiences such as a swap-shop for clothing and household items, organic and sustainable food stalls, led cycle rides, bike repairs and electric bike trials. The event is guaranteed to be a fun-filled family day with things like film screenings, theatre workshops, music, outdoor yoga and much more.
The event is funded in part by the Climate Challenge Fund, a Scottish Government grant programme, managed and administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which provides funding and support for community groups that are tackling climate change through local community-led projects.
This is an impactful event and we are expecting over 4,000 participants to join us. The Festival will facilitate meaningful community engagement and would be a great opportunity to promote your organization/company and the incorporation of climate action into its business framework. We are seeking sponsorship or in-kind contributions, whichever you feel best suited for.
Please contact Jean-Matthieu Gaunand, Communities for Conservation coordinator and one of the organizers of the festival, for more information on how you can support this exciting event!
