Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic produce information video

The Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic recently set out to create a resource which would provide information to people who were exploring their gender identity or had been referred to the clinic.

Through conversations with the Transgender community, it was decided that a film would be a valuable resource for providing this information, as well as alleviating the fears and anxieties that many people had about attending the clinic. Part of the aim was to create something that health professionals, support workers, friends and families could use to increase their awareness about the Gender Identity Clinic.

The film was a collaboration of NHS Lothian staff, third sector organisations and the film production company HeeHaw. Additionally over 50 members of the Transgender Community were involved in the design, content and feel of the film.

The video is now live and available to watch online for anyone interested in our service

Here’s what some of the participants had to say:

“I’ve really enjoyed being part of this exciting and really well executed project… thank you for including us and congratulations on producing what I’m sure will be a hugely beneficial asset to the Lothian GIC service.”

“A great resource not only for Lothian but other parts of Scotland and that commitment to share is to be commended.”

“It is amazing. What an honest, insightful and compassionate film.”
