Chair of the Spifox Foundation Andy Clark, Trustee Ronnie Urquhart and fellow Trustees Penny Hearn, Frances Sim and Christian Bruce visited North Edinburgh Arts on Wednesday 24th April to officially launch the refurbished NEA café made possible by a generous grant from the Foundation.
Welcomed by NEA Chair Lesley Hinds and NEA Board members, the Trustees toured the venue and garden, chatted to the NEA team and visitors before cutting a celebratory cake and signing the NEA supporters wall.
Ronnie said ‘”The Trustees of Spifox are delighted to have assisted NEA in their remodelling of the Cafe provision to improve the offering to the local community. The efforts put in by the NEA team, and the many volunteers are truly remarkable; it is very clear that the Muirhouse residents enjoy and value this fabulous facility.”
Spifox was first launched in 1983 by a group of property and construction professionals who organised the first Christmas Carol Concert followed by a charity lunch which raised the sum of £3,000 for the RSPCC.
Since launching and through to January 2019 it has raised, and donated, over £4.5m and has become a name synonymous within the Scottish Property Industry.
The sole objective of Spifox is to raise funds during the business year for disadvantaged children and young people in Scotland, enabling the purchase of equipment and the provision of facilities to assist their beneficiaries in better performing their function of care and support.
All monies raised are donated directly to the chosen beneficiaries without deduction of admin or other overheads.
At the Christmas Carol Concert and Lunch 2018 monies raised exceeded £330,000 – a truly awesome result! These monies benefitted the three principal beneficiaries, namely Team Jak, North Edinburgh Arts and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Additionally, the fabulous total will allow Spifox to make a significant number of small donations to less well known, but equally deserving, Charities.
