Rebecca McLennan (above) has been recognised as one of Scotland’s leading home care employees. She will be invited to a prestigious evening awards ceremony celebrating the best of the independent care at home and housing support sector.
The Manager at Eidyn Care has been nominated in the Palliative and End of Life Care Practise category at the Scottish Care Awards 2019. This award celebrates those delivering excellence in supporting individuals and their families receiving palliative and end of life care in a home care or housing support setting.
The winner will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on 17 May at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow. The Awards will be hosted by Michelle McManus, with over 400 people attending.
Rebecca, who has significant experience working on a busy oncology ward, was delighted to have been recognised and said: “I had the idea of creating Eidyn Care in 2016, recognising the need for a dedicated palliative care at home service, as the vast majority of people with palliative needs want to live at home.
“We strongly believe that clients with palliative needs require an advocate and we will always champion these individuals’ best interests.”
The Good Care Group (above) has been recognised as one of the leading home care services in Scotland. The Edinburgh-based service is nominated in the Provider of the Year category at the Scottish Care Awards 2019.
This award celebrates an individual service that can demonstrate they are at the forefront of excellent care provision in Scotland.
The Good Care Group team members were delighted to have been recognised, Director Rory Mclachlan said: “We have been operating since 2012 and provide a 24/7 live-in care service to people in their own homes across Scotland. Our mission is to keep people living well, in the comfort of their own homes, while improving their quality of life.
“To help counter the challenges of the remote nature of a live-in care workforce, we’ve developed a bespoke real-time Care Community platform. It means there is no cumbersome paperwork for carers, allowing them to focus on delivering care.”
Lindsey Clark (above) has been recognised as one of the leading home care employees in Scotland. The Recruitment Resourcer & Trainer at Bluebird Care, has been nominated in the Training, Learning & Staff Development category at the Scottish Care Awards 2019.
This award celebrates and acknowledges the importance of continuous training and learning within care at home and housing support services, and Lindsey said she was “surprised but thrilled and honoured” to have been recognised.
Jane Perry, Director at Bluebird Care, who made the nomination, said: “Lindsey not only recruits all our new staff but also has a genuine passion for training, developing and designing a range of activities throughout the induction week, ensuring it sets staff up for a positive caring experience.
“Thanks to Lindsey, new recruits are engaged from the minute they begin their career journey with us, as she has a fantastic knack of using her own experience as a care assistant to create a relatable and useful learning experience for staff.
“This excellence is filtering through every part of our business and is reflected in the wonderful job our carers are doing in assisting people to remain as independent as possible while being safe living in their own home.”
The awards have been hailed a huge success in recognising individuals, teams and companies, who are delivering care at an incredibly high standard in an era of challenging budgets and within an increasingly demanding work environment.
The care awards will follow a full day conference with speakers including the Cabinet Secretary for Health & Sport, Jeane Freeman.
