The women and children supported by Edinburgh Women’s Aid have received a delivery of more than 200 Easter eggs thanks to a donation from the team at the Amazon Customer Services Centre in Waterloo Place.
Edinburgh Women’s Aid works towards a society free from domestic abuse – by raising awareness and giving practical and emotional support to women and children who have experienced and/or are at risk of domestic abuse.
The charity believes that domestic abuse is unacceptable and that women and children have a fundamental right to live their lives without fear or violence.
The team from Amazon’s Customer Services Centre in Edinburgh made the donation as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
The Amazon Customer Services team has chosen Edinburgh Women’s Aid as their charity of the year this year and the team was initially tasked with donating 100 Easter eggs to the charity. However, due to the generosity of the team at the Customer Services Centre and some additional support from Amazon Development Centre Scotland, 205 Easter eggs have been donated.
Stephen Lumsden, Site Leader at Amazon’s Customer Services Centre in Edinburgh, said: “Edinburgh Women’s Aid provides life-changing services for women and children in our community and we’re pleased to make this donation of Easter eggs.
“The charity really struck a chord with the teams here at Amazon in Edinburgh and when we set a challenge to donate 100 eggs, they went above and beyond and donated more than 200. We hope this small gesture puts some smiles on faces this Easter.”
Kate Tregaskis from Edinburgh Women’s Aid added: “Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this appeal for Easter Eggs! The Amazon team’s generosity will ensure that the women and children that we support will have a brighter Easter and just as importantly will feel that the wider community cares about them. On behalf of everyone here, thanks so much for your kindness!’
