Visit New Lanark this Easter Weekend, from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd April, when the Easter Bunny will be bouncing around this amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There will be fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Head for the Easter Bunny’s meadow cabin before enjoying an array of activities in the Interactive Zone. Each child will receive a small gift and they can also join the Easter Bunny’s helpers and take part in arts & crafts, Easter Bonnet making, storytelling and an Easter Egg hunt.
The day will culminate in an Easter Bonnet Parade around the site where crafters can show off their Easter bonnets! And of course, celebrate Easter Sunday itself with an Easter 3 course lunch on the 21st April 2019 at the New Lanark Mill Hotel. There will be a children’s entertainer, disco and party games plus a visit from the Easter Bunny himself.
If you are travelling from further afield, why not make the most of New Lanark’s amazing NEW line up of short breaks which are unlike any other in Scotland, due to the hotel’s origins as an 18th century cotton mill.
There will also be daily activities taking place at New Lanark throughout the Easter holidays, from 10am – 5pm, when you can visit the New Lanark Visitor Attraction. Play with historic toys in the School, snap a selfie on the Roof Garden, Dress up in Robert Owen’s House and lots more.
There will be ‘Story of New Lanark Tour’ at 2pm daily, when you can find out about the key historical milestones on the village’s timeline that helped shape it into the UNESCO World Heritage Site it is today or visit New Lanark’s newest exhibition ‘Diaspora’, which runs until the 28th April 2019.
Textile production and innovation has been the continuous thread throughout New Lanark’s history, from the village’s early years as the one-time largest cotton manufacturer in Scotland, to now producing over 60 shades of high-quality woollen yarn using historic textile machinery and launching the world’s first Organic Tartan in 2015. Easter visitors can explore the many attractions when staying at the New Lanark Mill Hotel; the visitor centre and exhibition areas, recreated millworkers’ houses, historic working machinery and the nearby ‘Falls of Clyde’ waterfalls which is a haven of wildlife.
There is also a Mill Shop selling locally made textiles and a welcoming Mill Café, so kick back, relax and enjoy the heritage at New Lanark over one of their award winning delicious ice-creams this Easter.
