Leonardo staff engineer super support for MND Scotland

Employees at aerospace giant Leonardo at Crewe Toll handed over a cheque for over £21,000 to their outgoing nominated charity MND Scotland recently, marking the culmination of two years of fundraising for them.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of MND Scotland, Morag McGown, Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “When staff at Leonardo’s Edinburgh site selected MND Scotland as their charity partner two years ago, none of us would have expected that an incredible £21,419.25 would have been raised.

“We have been overwhelmed  by the support of employees. Over the past year, staff have participated in a wide range of fundraising activities including pub quizzes, bake sales, sponsored walks and the sale of a charity calendar of employees’ photos. Collecting cans in the office canteens raised funds, coupled with a poster campaign to help raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.

“We’re already using the huge sum raised to fund vital support services for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease and I am truly grateful to every single Leonardo employee who helped us raise this fantastic total.”

Following an employee vote, the Harmeny Education Trust Charity has been voted in as Leonardo’s new nominated charity for the 2019-2021 period.
