Friends of St John’s hand over final cheque

Staff at St John’s Hospital have welcomed the final donation of almost £30,000 from the Friends of St John’s charity after they ceased operating.

Murray Spiers and Agnes McKenna from the Friends of St John’s wanted to make sure that all the remaining donations went to a good cause, that’s why they handed over the balance to a charity fund which will benefit the patients and carers at St John’s Hospital.

The Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation is the official charity for NHS Lothian, and holds funds for hospitals and services across the region, from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General and St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

Agnes Ritchie, Associate Nurse Director at St John’s accepted the cheque on behalf of the Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation, and said: “We are very lucky to have a supportive network of friends and families who are looking to give back to the hospital in whatever way they can. This money will go into our St John’s Fund and will be spent improving the experience of patients and carers at St John’s.”
