International Women’s Day: remembering our own

Tomorrow at North Edinburgh Arts: International Women’s Day

CAN’s contribution to International Women’s Day is a celebration of the life of our friends Alice and Roberta. Alice died on Christmas Day 2018. She always participated actively in International Women’s Day.

Alice loved singing, protest songs especially. Penny Stone is coming to do a songwriting workshop with us from 10am at North Edinburgh Arts. Women welcome. We’ll be singing some of Alice’s favourite songs too.

The Knit and Natter group based at North Edinburgh Arts has also created a beautiful framed poem decorated with butterflies to present to Alice’s family as a celebration of her life.

It’s also a day to remember those other strong women who helped to make our community the place it is. Agnes Campbell, Gwen Chrystal (below), Jenni Marrow, Maureen McMillan, Sandra Purnell and all the others … gone but not forgotten.
