Tomorrow: Quilting Bee at North Edinburgh Arts

Quilting Bees is a quilting group dedicated for mums-to-be. In weekly drop-in sessions, you’ll get a chance to explore, create and develop new skills, express your creativity, relax and get to know other members of the community while making beautiful patchwork quilt pieces.

The project is running from Wednesday 20 February until Wednesday 1 May (no sessions on Wed 13 March). Sessions take place in Studio 2, and are free of charge. A quilting bee is a social event in which people get together to make a quilt.

Quilting bees have traditionally taken place in communities to celebrate life events such as births, marriages or special events within the community. Quilts not only have marked life events but have been used for community/social activism too.

This project has been created predominantly for pregnant women although other members of the community will not be discouraged from attending. We will be creating small quilts that tell their own stories of people, places or interests.
