Linda Richardson, a humanitarian worker from Edinburgh, has been shortlisted to win a coveted honor at this year’s Bond International Development Awards 2019.
Linda is nominated alongside her co-founder Gill Price for their tireless work creating All in Diary which offers quick, essential information to aid workers in disaster situations.
Linda said: “We are deeply honoured to be nominated for BOND’s volunteer award. Since 2005 we have supported front line responders by enabling access to essential, up-to-date humanitarian guidance through the free All In Diary publication, encouraged by positive endorsements from users and generous voluntary support at all levels within the sector.”
Now in its sixth year, the awards celebrate the exceptional work undertaken in the development sector that often goes unrecognised. The Volunteer Award specifically honors the hidden heroes giving up their time and donating their skills, often in challenging and demanding environments.
Charlie Dalrymple from RedR UK, is delighted by their nomination. He says: “Through 12 years of tireless volunteering, Linda and Gill created a resource that has grown to be a key ‘go-to’ tool for humanitarians around the world, fundamentally changing information access for aid workers, making aid interventions more effective and improving the lives of people affected by disaster.”
Gill and Linda are joined by seven other deserving finalists in this category, with the overall winner announced at an awards ceremony in London on March 18.
Mike Wright, Director of Communications at Bond, says: “Each year we are delighted and humbled by the nominations we receive in this category.
“It is a great reflection of the hard work that goes on, often behind the scenes, by so many dedicated volunteers. It is a genuine pleasure to be honoring such a diverse range of humanitarians and shining a light on these inspirational people and the incredible work they are doing.”
The Bond International Development Awards form part of Bond Annual Conference, Europe’s biggest international development event, bringing together diverse organisations and thinkers to share ideas and discuss emerging trends in the international development and humanitarian sectors.
