NHS Lothian staff storm social media with a Christmas classic

Staff from across NHS Lothian have been spreading festive fun throughout hospitals and sites with the launch of their own Christmas song – and video.

Big-hearted staff have taken time out to raise their voices and share some festive cheer with patients, relatives and colleagues.

Nurses, drivers, HR staff, porters, doctors, catering teams, admin staff, occupational health teams, midwives, theatre teams, physiotherapists and play specialists all joined forces for the NHS Lothian Big Christmas Singalong.

They performed their own version of 1958 Christmas classic Brenda Lee’s ‘Rockin around the Christmas Tree” and 60 years on its still proving to be a festive cracker.

Within two days of being posted on social media, it has reached nearly 140,000 people and 68,000 views on Facebook.

People from as far afield as Australia have praised the staff for their festive cheer and say it has the number one slot in their minds this Christmas.

One viewer said: “So much talent in the NHS. Thanks for all you do. Xxx”

“Great job! Proud to work for the NHS. Merry Christmas all,” said another.

NHS Lothian has increased their Facebook audience by over 30% to over 10,000 this year alone.

Deputy Chief Executive, Jim Crombie took to twitter publicly to thank staff for their festive cheer and hard work all year round and joked that he had asked to feature in the video but his request was declined.
